Personal Experience & Biography

Is it possible that overwhelm, grief, rage, shame, etc. are natural responses to living in systems that are often inequitable and unhealthy? If you’re feeling taken over by emotions like these, responding to them with behaviors that aren’t helping, and perhaps feeling trapped in your own life, I would love to work with you. I want to work with people in a way that helps them see that they are inherently good, in spite of layers of social and cultural conditioning that may lead them to feel otherwise.

I am an anti-oppression practitioner. This means that I want to work together with you to identify and deconstruct the many power dynamics at play in your life, and consider the multitude of factors that have come together to create who you are, without necessarily pathologizing them. We’ll also pull strategies from various schools of thought to give you the most holistic and well-rounded care. I want to help you experience how emotions show up in your body, become aware of the roles of attachment and trauma in your life, and encourage you to speak your truth in a way that empowers and liberates you.

It is just as true that what you have lived through shapes who you are and how you move through the world as it is that you are always capable of change. But often, the supportive presence of another is needed to help us in this process. I’m happy to be that presence for you. I will be present, open, and real with you, giving you unconditional support so you can feel safe becoming who you really are.

I work with individuals ages 12 and up and have a particular interest in working with those who have a trauma history and with marginalized populations.
